One question though: Why do you think
Paolo wasn't afraid of Angel, after Angel
killed his parents?

"The Killer's Tears" is a sensational novel about a love that grows between a murderer and a young boy. The action starts at the very beginning of the book: The Poloverdo family live happily in a farmhouse on the tip of Chile. Unexpected, Angel Allegria, a killer, murders the farmer and his wife, sparing the life of their son, Paolo. Together, they attempt to live a normal life, Angel being the dad, and Paolo being his son. When a wealthy city man named Luis Secunda steps in, an emulation emerges between him and Angel, competing for Paolo's attention and respect. After days of the three men living with each other, they are suddenly forced to leave the farmhouse, due to food deficiency. Luis separates from the group, falling in love with an inn caretaker's daughter. Seeing WANTED flyers everywhere, Angel and Paolo runs as far as they could, as fast as they could, in fear that the Police might find Angel. Later on in the story, Angel goes to jail, sentenced to death, and Paolo stays with his foster parents. At the end of the book, Paolo is 18 years old, and now that he was old enough to visit prison, he asks to see if he could visit Angel. Unfortunately, Paolo didn't grow fast enough because a year before Paolo turned 18, Angel died.

I think that Paolo was afraid of Angel at first, he just wasn't showing it. I'm guessing that as Angel shifted to a whole different attitude, not of a murderer, but of a father, Paolo started to become comfortable with his presence. (p.s.: GOOD QUESTION!:)
I agree with you on this 100 percent!!!!!!! I think that Paolo did start liking Angel as time went on!!!!
Hi girls, this is a good question. I think Paolo had no choice but to accept Angel as he was completely vulnerable and needed Paolo to survive. I wonder why Angel did not kill Paolo along with his mother and father? What kept him from killing him?
I remember at the beginning of the book that Angel didn't kill Paolo because he was the only one that didn't make him nervous. But when Angel was with adults, he would feel kind of worried or frightened, which Im guessing led him to becoming a murderer.
This sounds like a book -- but one that would be tough for a mother to read. I'll put it on my list! Good job with "conversation" in your comments, girls!
