"The Killer's Tears" is a sensational novel about a love that grows between a murderer and a young boy. The action starts at the very beginning of the book: The Poloverdo family live happily in a farmhouse on the tip of Chile. Unexpected, Angel Allegria, a killer, murders the farmer and his wife, sparing the life of their son, Paolo. Together, they attempt to live a normal life, Angel being the dad, and Paolo being his son. When a wealthy city man named Luis Secunda steps in, an emulation emerges between him and Angel, competing for Paolo's attention and respect. After days of the three men living with each other, they are suddenly forced to leave the farmhouse, due to food deficiency. Luis separates from the group, falling in love with an inn caretaker's daughter. Seeing WANTED flyers everywhere, Angel and Paolo runs as far as they could, as fast as they could, in fear that the Police might find Angel. Later on in the story, Angel goes to jail, sentenced to death, and Paolo stays with his foster parents. At the end of the book, Paolo is 18 years old, and now that he was old enough to visit prison, he asks to see if he could visit Angel. Unfortunately, Paolo didn't grow fast enough because a year before Paolo turned 18, Angel died.

I don't think that there was a certain message, because in that part of the story Angel was trying to compete with Luis, for Paolo's love. Luis was teaching Paolo to read, so Angel felt like Luis was trying to win Paolo's love from Angel, so Angel decided to get something for Paolo that would be better than learning how to read, so he brought him the fox, because he knew that Paolo would like it better than learing to read.
Yea, but do you think Angel was trying to show Paolo that he loves him more than Luis says he does??
yeah I think he was trying too, because he was always trying to compete with him.
